N3YFO – David Hunter Announces first operation of HF remote from Cambria North Tower.
On Sunday February 27, 2011, N3YFO activated and used the NEW Cambria North HF Remote Base Rig to check in to the PEMA Western Area RACES Net which is held Sundays at 9:00 AM at 3.990.50. Tom K3WS observed perfect audio and signal from his home QTH as did net control N3TN Frank. The Cambria North HF Remote is a Kenwood TS-480 SAT purchased by the County and with the further set up and installation labor and some additional funding from members of WAN-RS the system went on line a week ago. Thank you to David N3YFO, Cambria County, EMA, EOC, and all organizations involved in our joint success in providing back up amateur radio emergency communications. As you know the Cambria North Tower is home to 147.060 node 27348 and 443.525 node 27349. We at WAN-RS hope to have HF as part of the WAN-RS system as we continue to grow the system.
